It essentially gives insurers a do-over and a get-out-of-jail-free card for policies that were bought and paid for to cover injuries like this,” Shepard said. “They’re getting a discount for the fact that the disease took a long time to develop. And the longer it takes for the disease to develop, the bigger the discount they get.”
